Say it ain't so, Vernon...
ESPN.com yesterday reported that Vernon Wells, the bonafide Allstar of Toronto's squad, has told the team he will not resign. Whether or not the story is legitimate remains to be seen. But, within the matter of a single season, the true nature of Jays' GM J.P. Ricciardi is coming to light. First, he publically criticized the team's stars. Shortly after, Shea Hillenbrand let loose about the front office's refusal to congratulate him on adopting a child. The whole Hillenbrand incident was completely mismanaged, and in the end it was the Blue Jays organization that looked bad. Now, if the Wells rumours are true, we can be certain that it will become more difficult for the team to sign top-tier free agents.
... but at least we got rid of Hinske.
