Jason Collett’s Idols of Exile marks the Broken Social Scene’s guitarist’s proper solo debut. He had previously released a collection of his earlier work, but Idols of Exile is his first complete, singularly focused effort. The album is an upbeat collection of pop tunes, mostly penned during his time with BSS. As expected it features the usually cast of characters, including Leslie Feist, Emily Haines and members of Stars. Although I am a huge fan of “I’ll Bring the Sun,” there are too many standout tracks to name.
