God's Stepson

9th Wonder’s remix album God’s Stepson was re-released this week in a deluxe edition that includes instrumentals. On the set, he laces the a cappellas from Nas’ God’s Son album with his trademark sound. Before there were any remixes of Jay-Z’s Black Album, there was this. 9th’s beats actually improve upon the original a great deal. He brings a feel to the project reminiscent of many classic albums of the early 90s. The album’s most popular tracks; “Made You Look,” “I Can” and “Ether” are all given complete makeovers, and it’s for the better. If there is any single project where Pete Rock’s influence on 9th Wonder is evident, this is it.
