The Urban Norman Rockwell

Rapper Brother Ali describes himself as the "urban Norman Rockwell". I couldn't disagree more with this description. Of course the Minneapolis-based emcee is able to paint pictures with his rhymes, but his imagery is a far cry from Rockwell's often sappy portraits of the American way of life. Brother Ali has some anger, and he's more than willing to share it with his listeners. His 2004 CD, Shadows on the Sun, was adored by both critics and true hip-hop heads. His second release, Champion, is another gem. "Champion Remix" stands as one of the sickest beats in a while.
