Destroy This

Dan Bejar's Destroyer is back with 2006’s Destroyer’s Rubies. The album is already receiving significant critical acclaim. I read a review for it in the Toronto Star recently, and it prompted me to check it out. I’m glad I did. The album is entertaining beginning to end. Lyrically, Bejar’s ability to squeeze words and phrases to fit is both refreshing and slightly amusing. Coupled with his knack for composing instantly likeable pop songs, it makes for a more than pleasurable listening experience. Two standout cuts are “Your Blood” and “3000 Flowers”, encapsulating the fun that runs throughout the album.
